Influenza Virus Hits

>> 1/22/11

This past month has been total hell.  I got the influenza virus (no idea which one since they didn't test for it) and it was a bad one for my respiratory system.  Then my kids got it from me, and then I rebounded and got really sick all over again.  Then my husband got sick AND threw his back out...and I rebounded again.  We've had a couple emergency room visits (one for me) and several pediatrician visits in the past month.  Fun, fun, fun.

How the heck are moms supposed to get better when they're taking care of everybody else and there isn't anybody to take care of them?  Geesh!

I feel better today than yesterday so I take that as a good sign that it's on its way out.

Flu Hits

>> 5/16/10

I ended up with the flu last night with high temps and chills.  My fever is coming down now but I still feel like I've been run over by a truck.  I remember one time I had the flu, I lost five pounds.  Unfortunately, this wasn't that kind of flu.  I think it's going to take my thyroid doctor getting back on track or a little help with hydroxycut to rid myself of the excess fat.

My throat feels funny and it goes up into my ears.  My TMJ has been giving me major problems all week.  I'm not sure if it is the illness or the goiter changing, since it did seem bigger the other day.

I'm supposed to make a two month check-up with my thyroid doctor for June.  After he's ignored my phone calls, I'm not sure I want to now.

Can You Prevent Swine Flu?

>> 10/21/09

I posted this on one of my other blogs but it is relevant to this blog as well (Vitamin D is important in the winter months too for our health) so I'm posting it here too:

I found this article, 14 Ways to Prevent Swine Flu, and thought I'd share it with you. I knew a few of these:

  • Optimize Vitamin D levels (there's a difference between being optimized and taking the amount to get you within "normal range" which is true for other things as well (such as treating thyroid disease).
  • Lower stress levels (SO important).
  • Get the right amount of sleep and exercise.
  • Wash hands frequently (and not with antibacterial soap).

There's more though. Here's the link so you can check it out!
