Thyroid Update

>> 8/23/12

I just realized by going through old posts on here that I haven't increased my T3 thyroid medication back to the level it was at when I was feeling fantastic. See what thyroid issues do - messes with your memory and you can't think straight! I wasn't feeling the best I knew I could feel and now I know why!  I'm glad I wrote it down here to jog my memory!

I "thought" I had increased it to the proper level but after reading - nope. I'm about 40 mcg away from that level. What a dumb ass I am.

Gallbladder Update

My husband told me it's been a long time since I've updated my blog.  I didn't realize he even remembered the name of any of my blogs.

So here's an update on the gallbladder issue:

I had a bad gallbladder attack and went to the ER for it in mid-June. They asked me why I still had it (gallbladder).  I told them because it's mine and I want to keep it.

(It was my fault I had it. I ate a Big Mac and french fries!  I know I'm not supposed to but I get lazy about watching what I eat and overindulged big-time! I only have them if I go overboard on eating nasty food.)

Of course, by the time I got to the ER, it was over.  They still wanted to put me on an IV and give me medication to stop another attack.  I told them I don't have second attacks following the first.  Oh yes, you will...that's how they happen.  Hello, I just told you that is not what happens to me!  I ticked off my ER doctor by refusing the medication. Sorry - I'm not going to fill a bed for you all night so we can look forward to a HUGE bill for something that isn't going to happen.

I have not had a french fry or big mac since that attack in June and I've not had any problems.

I did have an ultrasound done on my gallbladder with my regular doctor and it told me - - I had gallstones.  Duh!

My gallstones are manageable by managing my diet.  I choose NOT to have them remove an organ unless it is absolutely necessary.  I am also reading a book to see if there is a natural way to remove those gallstones. The book is called The Liver and Gallbladder Miracle Cleanser

Unfortunately, that gallbladder ultrasound also told me I had a lesion on my liver. I have to get a MRI done now so they can tell me whether it is something I need to worry about or not. Is that tumor non-cancerous or cancerous?  Yeah me, right!?!  With all the chaos around getting four kids ready for a new school year, I forgot all about calling around and finding an open MRI unit (I am severely claustrophobic so the regular MRI units just will not work). I will work on that next week I guess.

Might Need Surgery

>> 4/4/12

Three weeks ago I developed an abscess in an area you don't want an abscess.  The doctor cut it in his office (oh joy!). I limited my activity the last three weeks (and hubby's "activity" with me - much to his annoyance...no shopping at a discount lingerie store for me). I had my three-week check up yesterday. Turns out the worst result happened that could have happened and now he wants to do actual surgery - one or two surgeries.

I want a second medical doctor opinion.  I also want to know what natural options are available for treatment.  Finding a doctor more inclined to treat naturally in Ohio - difficult!!! Ugh.

Pain, Lower Right Side of Neck: Thyroid?

>> 2/28/12

I am having discomfort on the lower, right side of my neck and it feels like it is swollen. It almost feels like my botched thyroid biopsy I had a few years ago but I've not had a hatchet of a doctor sticking needles in my neck since the last "fun" occurrence.  I don't know if it is something thyroid related or something else.

I took a couple Motrin and am hoping it will just go away.  I did recently have pneumonia so maybe my whacked up immune system is reacting right now.

I do need to get back to see my thyroid doctor.  It's been too long since I've seen him.  When he reduced my thyroid dose during my last visit and it messed me up completely - I was FINALLY doing better than I had been in ten years - it irritated me with regard to him a bit. I need to get back to feeling good!

Geesh. I was doing so good too!

Added Weight = Back Pain

>> 2/25/12

I've gained ten pounds.  I am not happy about the way that looks at all.  It all went to the trunk - no more curves:( It's also causing me a lot of back pain when I try to sleep on my stomach.  I haven't had back pain like that since...before I lost the weight to begin with.  Must be pulling my spine out of alignment?

Before I keep gaining weight and causing more damage to my back and spine, I need to get on a diet before I need laser spine to fix a damaged back!

I also have a vacation in May.  That's my goal - to look AWESOME at a healthy weight by May.

Get Recommendations for Biopsies

>> 2/10/12

I'm negotiating with the hospital who performed my botched thyroid biopsy a couple years ago - yup, still haven't paid off that bill!  That was awful - too much anesthetic in my neck AND he hit something he wasn't supposed to with the needle. I was in pain for weeks afterward through my neck and arm.  I walked out of their real dopey - totally unlike my first biopsy that went so smoothly and was relatively stress-free (as stress-free as you can be thinking about  needles going into your neck) where I walked out of there and drove myself home.  My husband had to drive me home after the botched one and take over total car of our four children for a couple days - that's how bad it was! I can give birth to a child and have less pain than what this hacked biopsy did to me!  Then the doctor said he missed something and wanted me to come back for another one.  Are you kidding me? Pfft!

Who the provider is doing the biopsy makes a HUGE difference.  My first biopsy was easy! Definitely get references (other than the one doctor referring you).
